To copy the weekly letter to a message you are sending, please follow these instructions:
Click here for the email addresses of some major American political figures.
An alternative method is known as "copy and paste," using the edit function at the top of your screen. Click here for a more detailed description of that method.
If you want to try to generate a snail mail (conventional mail) response to your e-mail, you can type your snail mail street address under your name at the end of your e-mail, below "Sincerely." The first time you do this (but not subsequent times) you will get a snail mail response from the White House in addition to its automated e-mail response. Some other elected officials, like Senator Moynihan, will occasionally provide a snail mail response if you continue to include your street address at the end of subsequent e-mails.
PLEASE DO NOT SIMPLY USE "FORWARD" OPTION TO SEND SAMPLE E-MAIL LETTER TO
THE WHITE HOUSE. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL ALSO BE SENDING INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW
TO UNSUBCRIBE TO VIPAC, AS WELL AS AN ADVERTISEMENT THAT LISTBOT MIGHT
PLACE ON OUTGOING E-MAIL.
THIS WOULD NOT BE DIGNIFIED. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME AND EFFORT TO USE ONE
OF THE TWO METHODS FOR COPYING AND EDITING THE SAMPLE E-MAIL DESCRIBED IN
THIS MESSAGE.
ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR COPYING E-MAIL MESSAGE
When viewing the sample letter on your screen, use the mouse to move the
cursor to the first word. Then press down the left button on the mouse
rapidly three or four times and keep it down when a black spot appears
where the cursor is located. Then, keeping the button pressed down all
the while, move the cursor to the bottom of the screen, just below the box
that contains the text of the letter. All the words of the letter should
be surrounded by black now (this is known as "highlighting"). Now you can
release the mouse button.
Next, click on "Edit" at the top of your screen. Then click on "copy" from the menu under "Edit". Then click on "Mail" icon from the tool bar at the top of your screen. Then click on "Write Mail" from menu under "Mail" icon. Next, use the mouse to move the cursor so that it is in the box where you want the text to appear, and then click again. Now, a blinking vertical line should appear near the cursor. Then click on "Edit" again, after which you click on "Paste" from the menu that pops up under "Edit".
Now the text is in a new e-mail, which you can alter as you wish and put your name after "Sincerely," and then send off to the White House.
